I started playing lacrosse in my first year of college and became instantly attached the speed of the game, the toughness of the game and the social aspect of the game. I join the university team, and everything just got better, with the added funding and larger group it meant more experience and better links to other universities for games.

Cornwall is quite far away from everything; this is why I want to grow the sport not just at universities and colleges but also with local clubs or local people generally to create a wider expanse of people who play or even know about the sport. Having clubs or people locally who want to play will then mean students who graduate or live nearby have an easier way to carry on the sport outside of the university life down in Cornwall.

We have also introduced free recreational taster sessions that anyone can join and held our first beginner Christmas tournament. I hope to grow participation past the walls of the campus by engaging with the Penryn college sports club and by contacting alumni. We aim to have a fully functioning community team in 3 years time.
