Canterbury Christ Church: End of Term Review

Canterbury Christ Church rejoined England Lacrosse’s University Lacrosse Officer programme this year, following a year away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now approaching the end of their first term back at university, their Men's and Women's clubs were excited to share an insight into the season so far.

Canterbury University Men's Team returned in high spirits, following a fantastic end to last year’s season- with a league win and promotion to Division 1 for the 2022/2023 season. The side were also cup finalists in a grueling match against St Mary's, which resulted in a draw and only concluded during overtime.

The club reports a high intake of freshers this year, but insist their players continue to compete at the highest level. JP Oulton, Men's Captain, said "we will be using D1 as practice to bounce back next season”.

Their Women's Team also achieved second in their league last year, and are striving to improve their play. The team reports a thriving start to the term, with wins against University College London, Hertfordshire, Sussex 2s, and Kent 2s.

The club now set their sights on the next round of South East Women's conference Cup matches. Sarah Gourrege, Women's Captain, said "we have only lost one game this season, seeing the development of the women’s team has been amazing”. In between training and matchdays, the club also hold weekly socials, including a recent themed ‘Dress as Your Type’ night.
