Manchester Metropolitan University End of Year Review

Manchester Metropolitan University Lacrosse Club held its final session of the year before winter break last week. We caught up with Katherine Wadge-Berrospi, ULO for Manchester Met, for an end of year review of the lacrosse club’s first semester back.

Katherine admits the “first term has had ups and downs” as the club transitioned into the Women's Northern 1st Division. The level of play is of course higher than in previous seasons, demanding extra effort and endurance from the team.

Katherine said “whilst we tried our best, we lost against the tougher teams”.

However, the club remain positive and were motivated by an impressive three wins against York 1's- twice in the BUCS League, and more recently in the first round of the National Trophy. They also celebrated a big win against Sheffield 1's, leaving MMU Ladies Lacrosse in fourth place on the BUCS leaderboard.

MMU Men’s Lacrosse have also had a promising first term back at university.

Match results were mixed, but the team took some key wins over Loughborough, Durham, and Leeds. The club also raised £80 for charity during their Movember campaign, raising awareness and funds to help combat men’s health issues.

The team look forward to resuming play when spring term begins in January.
