ULO Rainbow Laces Day 2022

England Lacrosse were proud to promote Stonewall's Rainbow Laces Campaign during university BUCS matches across the country on Wednesday 26 October, in support of LGBTQ+ inclusivity in sport.

Clubs were encouraged to sport their laces during match fixtures, training sessions, and casual friendlies between 21 and 30 October, with Rainbow Laces Day itself coinciding with BUCS Wednesday on the 26th.

Players got creative and tied laces in their hair, cleats, and lacrosse sticks, to promote and recognise LGBTQ+ inclusion in their sports societies and wider student communities!

Each participating university was provided with a supply of laces, for players to continue representing the campaign throughout the year, in recognition of Stonewall’s reminder inclusion has no off-season.

University Lacrosse Officers reiterated their clubs’ commitments to equality- with various universities degendering their lacrosse teams in the pursuit of inclusivity. Recent years have also witnessed a rise in mixed lacrosse groups, to welcome diversity and promote allyship across the sport.

England Lacrosse partnered with universities nationwide, from Southampton to Sheffield, and hope ULOs will continue to support the campaign during future intakes on the programme. Many thanks to all participating Lacrosse Officers for the pictures featured in the compilation below!
