University of Nottingham Ladies Lacrosse ‘Just Play’ Beginners

Just Play Lacrosse

The University of Nottingham held their first Just Play session of the season on 13th October, with thirteen players attending. Alongside Nottingham’s six women’s teams, their Just Play programme offers a more casual opportunity for students to play without the pressure of BUCS games or need for a membership.

ULO for Nottingham, Anna Boyne, reports “they were all complete beginners but picked everything up quickly and all seemed to really enjoy it!”

Just Play sessions continue to run every alternate Thursday evening at the David Ross Sports Village (from 7:00-8:00pm), with Beginners team training every Thursday evening (5:30-7:00pm), for those more eager to get into the sport on a weekly basis.

Charitable Contributions

UoN Ladies Lacrosse players Kate and Honor also ran 42km and raised £4238 - plus £500 in gift aid - for Mind, in memory of their friend Olly Chessher this month. Due to the cancellation of the official marathon they planned to complete, they instead ran the equivalent distance together around the city itself!

BUCS 6s Champions

University of Nottingham Men’s and Ladies squads were also both crowned Champions of the 2022/2023 BUCS 6s Championship on 16th October, with their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams maintaining the winning streak in their BUCS games too! Final scores have included an impressive Ladies 1st Team win over the University of Edinburgh (21-3) and a massive 4th Team victory over the University of East Anglia (26-1).
